The greatest NBA players who were born in the United States were mostly selected for USA Basketball’s team because they intended to leave nothing to chance when competing in the Olympics. Not surprisingly, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry took centre stage.LeBron made several excellent plays, Durant broke the previous mark, and Curry came to their rescue in both podium games. However, despite the fact that they were all quite impressive, Devin Booker left Anthony Edwards even more impressed. The rookie shooting guard thanked Booker for accepting the task of protecting the greatest player on the other team in addition to being an effective scorer when discussing his summer experience with Team USA (via Whyba).Booker was hailed by coach Steve Kerr, who described him as the team’s unsung hero. Although Booker is one of the best and most effective three-level scorers in the game, his defensive abilities have never received much attention.Even while he’s by no means a pushover, you don’t see him put up that kind of defensive effort as much in the NBA. Granted, FIBA games are shorter, but unlike with the Phoenix Suns, he wasn’t required or requested to be the team’s main or backup scorer.Nevertheless, coach Mike Budenholzer—who is renowned for his defensive prowess—should find this to be extremely encouraging. In the upcoming season, hopefully, Booker will be able to maintain this defensive momentum and continue elevating his game.
