Darci Lynne: From Ventriloquist Phenom to Rising Music Star

Darci Lynne Farmer, the 19-year-old who captured America’s heart as a 12-year-old ventriloquist on America’s Got Talent (AGT), is continuing to evolve in the entertainment world. Since winning AGT in 2017, Lynne’s star has only risen, and now, she’s setting her sights on a new path—music.

“Winning definitely changed my life a whole 360, in a really good way,” Lynne reflected on her AGT victory.

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Lynne discovered her love for ventriloquism at the age of nine. At the time, she was fully dedicated to gymnastics and believed it would be her future. However, after witnessing another contestant perform a ventriloquism act at a beauty pageant, she was inspired to learn the craft herself.

“That is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen,” Lynne recalled. “I gotta learn more about this.”

Years later, with a coveted AGT win under her belt, Lynne has now begun to explore music. She recently performed at Nashville’s iconic Grand Ole Opry and released her debut single, “Someone Wake Me Up,” co-written with Shane Henry and Maggie McClure of the Imaginaries duo. In addition to her budding music career, Lynne also made a small appearance in the recently released film Reagan.

While her life has changed dramatically since her AGT days, Lynne admits that fame still brings its challenges. “Getting recognized in public is something I’ll never get used to,” she shared. “Sometimes it’s so socially anxious. But I also love talking to people, so it’s a weird balance of like, ‘Wait, this is so cool!’”

With her eyes set on new horizons, Darci Lynne’s journey from shy gymnast to multi-talented performer is just beginning.
