Ken Roczen Returns to 250cc Class at Unadilla, Battles Energy Issues
Ken Roczen made a highly anticipated return to the 250cc class at the AMA Nationals in Unadilla today, marking his first appearance in the division in years. The German star showcased glimpses of his talent, despite revealing after the race that he had been struggling with energy issues leading into the event.
Roczen, who typically competes in the premier class, decided to step down to the 250cc class for the weekend in what many saw as a unique challenge for the seasoned rider. His performance was solid, but he admitted he wasn’t at his best physically. Taking to social media after the race, Roczen said, “The good news is, I still know how to ride a dirt bike. The bad news is, not for long.”
He revealed he had been dealing with complications in his energy system but was determined not to pull out of the event. “I did not feel too hot even going into Unadilla, but luckily I could manage as it was not hot there,” Roczen shared. “Nothing I haven’t dealt with before, and I will get it under control.”
With the prestigious Motocross of Nations (MXoN) set for October, Roczen’s health and fitness are now a top priority. The German team will depend heavily on his experience and skill to contend for the title. Roczen assured fans that he has already started addressing the issue, saying, “I am confident it’s all uphill from here.”
Despite the challenges, Roczen expressed gratitude for the team and supporters who rallied around him, making his 250cc return possible. He even hinted at a possible future return to the class for redemption. For now, all eyes will be on Roczen as he prepares to represent Germany at the MXoN.
